One of the skills we are practicing in Kindergarten is rhyming! There are two specific skills we practice with rhyming--recognizing rhymes and producing rhymes. This is also a great skill to practice at home. See if your child can:
Recognize Rhymes: "Do 'chair' and 'stare' rhyme? Do 'hop' and 'desk' rhyme?"
Produce Rhymes: "What is a word that rhymes with 'frog'?" "See how many words rhyme with 'cat'."
Recognizing and producing a few rhymes a day will strengthen your student's phonological awareness! This is a quick activity that you can practice with your student in the car, while cleaning up, or while munching on a snack!
