We had such an awesome afternoon! After completing the first half of our science unit "Materials and Motion", we took the information we learned about paper, wood, and fabric to make structures. These engineers had to solve a problem: How could we make a structure that would keep a water bottle cold if it was sitting in the sun?

We've been enjoying our Dinosaur Theme in Room 4! This week we read about the Stegosaurus and wrote All About Books with the new information we learned! Next week we will be completing the writing assessment. Students will be expected to write independently.

We have started our new science unit Materials and Motion and the students are really loving it! We have learned about wood, paper, and fabric, how they are made, and the uses of them in our world. After April break, we are going to begin our structure design project where these young scientists will have to design a structure to keep water cool in sunshine using the knowledge they’ve gained from previous experiments and inquiry.
We need your help! The next few weeks we will be gathering wood scraps, interesting and colorful paper, and fabric discards. If you have any of these items that you would like to get rid of or donate, please send them in! We would love to use them for our design challenge!

We had so much fun with our PBIS Classroom Celebration! Everyone showed up wearing their best outfits! Mr. Wilkes provided us with some awesome music and Mrs. Thomas's class joined us! It was a great way to celebrate filling our bin with Champ Bands.

These writers have been showing a ton of growth! We are diving into our Informational Writing unit. We just finished writing "All About Maple Sugaring" books after learning new information from our field trip, books, and videos. Not only are we continuing to practice our writing skills, but we are also working on how to share, understand feedback, and accept compliments from a writing partner.
